Given Name; As the first child born to her Parents, Margaret Gertrude Siskie and Seburne Eugene Herring, Margaret Eugenia "Jean" Herring was named after her Father.

Jean and four of her sisters pretty much grew up in St. Peter's Orphanage, McLean and Poplar, Memphis, Tennessee. None of the five placed in the orphanage were adopted. The sixth daughter Emily Nell (born in 1931), was adopted at five weeks old by a couple in Memphis. Emily's adoption was handled by the infamous Georgia Tann.Jean's father lost his bakery business during the depression and her parents had to put the girls into the orphanage. Their parents (Seburne Eugene & Margaret) later divorced.



MARGARET J. CUNEO, 75, of Memphis, died Wednesday at Methodist Hospital North after a short illness. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. Mrs. Cuneo, the widow of John A. Cuneo, leaves a daughter, Lois Ratliff of Bartlett; three sisters, Connie Milligan of Memphis, Kay Lashmet of Kansas City, Mo., and Helen Wendler of Lexington, Tenn., and a granddaughter.
