Violet Bogdan Van Ausdal, 74, died January 9, 2011, after a seven month battle with an illness that she fought with all the strength and dignity that she was so well known for. She was born in Eureka, Utah to Luby and Milka Bogdan. Violet lived in Utah until moving to Albuquerque in 2003 to be near her daughters after the death of her husband Ted. She is survived by her daughters Suzanne Smith and husband Greg and Dana Van Ausdal Toniolli; grandchildren: Brett Palmer and wife Valerie, Daniel Marshall and wife Mona, Lyndsay Strong and husband Ryan, Teddi and Mia Toniolli, great-grandchildren; Kayla and Brandon Marshall, Kori, Luke and Madden Palmer, and Ayden Strong. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Wilde and Marelo Bogdan, many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister; Angie, brother; John and daughter; Terry. Violet graduated Valedictorian from Tintic High School where she was also Drum Majorette. She also completed Stevens-Henager School of Business. She married Ted in 1955. Violet was a US Government civil servant at Dugway Proving Grounds from 1967 until 1994. Violet/Grandma Leetra loved to care for and spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was extremely talented and expressed her creativity through cross stitching, crocheting and ceramics. She also had a green thumb and loved gardening. Services will be held in Eureka, Utah around Memorial Day weekend, announcement to follow.
