Mr. Balvin was born on August 25, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of John Bernard and Hazel Gertrude (George) Balvin.
He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri.
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1957 - 1977.
In Vietnam, he received the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and two Meritorious Unit commendations.
He retired as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, 1st Class.
After his service in the military, he moved to St. Louis until 1984 then to Dallas, Texas, until June of 2005.
In Dallas he was the plant manager for Acme Bag Company until he retired in 2001.
Mr. Balvin married his wife Beverly (Perry) on December 25, 1959, in Bellingham, Wash.
They moved to Prineville in June of 2005.
He loved to work with wood, building furniture, jewelry boxes, and building hot rods, including a super Nova.
Mr. Balvin is survived by his wife Beverly Balvin of Prineville; his son Todd A. and his wife Arla (Adams) Balvin of Dallas, Texas; his daughter Elizabeth Elaine and her husband Kenny Burns of Kila, Mont.; his sister Judy Peske of St. Louis, Missouri, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
