Madeline M Hobza, 84, of Nampa, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Madeline was born July 13, 1926 the youngest of seven children to Joseph and Mary Mooney. She was reared in Harlowton, Montana. She endured several hardships as a child; the first, her arm in a washing machine ringer, and the second one she was frost bitten during a Montana blizzard. After graduation she moved to Bremerton, Washington to be near her sister Betty and to work at Boeing on the first B29 airplanes. Her next adventure was a move to Nampa to be with her sister Esther. On a special outing to the Rollerdrome she had a chance meeting with the floor manager who was smitten by her beautiful auburn hair. She and Del shared a wonderful 63 year marriage together which to this union produced a daughter, Marly's and a son, Gary. Most of her life was spent as a home maker, but she kept busy as a bookkeeper with her father-in-law Ralph Hobza. They did many accounts in and around Nampa. Her next adventure came as the first female weight master in the State of Idaho. She worked alongside auctioneer John Hayes at the Nampa Livestock Sale yard. She was involved in every aspect of her children's sporting and organizational lives. The family was quite an outdoors family and this continued with her and Del traveling the entire United States. They had many great adventures with their travel trailer. They enjoyed winters in Arizona and the back country of Idaho. Many of the back country trips were for fishing and horseback riding. As Del pursued his real estate and political career Madeline was his helpmate all the way.
Card playing was a passion of hers and she was skilled at nearly any game. Madeline was a gifted care giver to her mother-in-law and her mother. Her whole family benefited from her joy in doing for others. As her husband Del's health began to decline they continued to enjoy their home, family, events at Silvercrest Estates, and of course card and domino game playing. After Del's passing, it became more apparent that Madeline was slipping more and was unable to stay in her home. She started a journey of various care facilities; finally living at Brookstone assisted Living Village. Due to her declining health with Alzheimer's disease she was fortunate to welcome Legacy Hospice on board as part of her health care. All these angels of mercy allowed Madeline to live longer with a greater quality of life. Her final months were quite a struggle but she handled them with grace and dignity. The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at Brookstone Village and Legacy Hospice. Chaplain John; nurse Maureen and CNA Laura went above and beyond. Madeline is survived by her daughter, Marlys Cutshall (Dick) of Nampa; son, Gary Hobza of Boise; grandchildren, Jill Ramirez (Juan) Mexico, Kimberley Vetere (Rick) New York, Crystal Warren (Bob) Georgia, Jonathan Hobza, Julie Hobza, Boise; sister-in-law, Lavilla Mooney, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Del Hobza, mother and father, Joseph and Mary; brothers, Joe, Edwin, Floyd, and Duaine Mooney, sisters, Esther Brassfield and Betty Park, nephew, Pat Mooney; great-granddaughter, Ashley, niece, Carolyn Loft.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel.
