Mary Burrowes was an artist, having studied under Mrs. J. H. Pierce (Mary Forrer) and professor (Isaac) Broome, her work being limited, from choice, to the painting of flowers and fruits, with watercolor and oil. Mary was also a member of the Dayton Amateur Sketch Club. A collection of her wild flower drawings remains in existence today. She lived with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Judge George B. Holt, and two maiden aunts, the Misses Eliza Ann and Martha Holt. She remained in the Dayton home until she was unable to care for herself, and re-moved to her sisters home in Springfield, Clark, Ohio in the early 1930's. She died in 1932.
