Mr. Harry Wade Creasey, 96, of Newnan Ga. and formerly of Terre Haute died
Wednesday August 1, 2001, in Beaulieu Convalescent Center. Newnan, Coweta, Ga.
He was a pilot, farmer and restaurateur. He was born July 4, 1905, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church of Newnan.
An aviation pioneer, he had a long, 67-year, colorful career that ranged from stunt pilot and crop duster to war time Army flight instructor and later corporate pilot. He was a long-time associate of famous air racer and international aviation celebrity Roscoe Turner. He continued in semi retirement as a flight instructor for many years at Newnan Airport. When he gave his last flying lesson (to his grandson ) at age 90, he was the oldest active flight instructor in the nation.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Louise Deardorf Creasey of Newnan; two daughters, Marilyn Carver and her husband Marion of Washington, Ga., and Elaine Wegrzyn of Newnan; one son Gary H. Creasey of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Newnan with Melvin Payne officiating; and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4 in Roselawn Funeral Home, Terre Haute, IN. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.
