Abbie was a daughter of Christian Laffer and Susan Caples - both large families in the Newport area. She married in Ohio March 15, 1866 to Henry Christian Bargar following his return from the Civil War. They moved to Linn Co., Missouri in 1869 where they lived out their lives. Her children included: Alice (Robbins), Louella (Terwilliger), John C., Joseph E., Agnes (Lomax), Eliza, Thomas M., Ida (Thompson), Jennie (Mathes), Vina (Jackson), and Stanley.
