Jack J. Winebrenner, 61, 3063 Fairlawn, died unexpectedly about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. He had been a resident of Columbus since 1961, when he came here to be assistant manager of the Social Security office. He retired in 1974, after 31 years of service.

Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Miller at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reed and Jewell Funeral Home where persons may call from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jack J. Winbrenner Memorial Fund of the Muscatatuck State Hospital.

Winebrenner was born April 18, 1919, in Logansport, son of Wilbur and Winfred Hildebrand Winebrenner. He married Louise Hudson on July 19, 1947, and she survives. He had lived most of his life in South Bend and was a 1947 graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill. He was an Army veteran of the second world war, a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, the National Employees and served as secretary of the Parents Board at Muscatatuck State Hospital. He was past president and member of the Bartholomew County Association of Retarded Citizens and had helped -with the Meals on Wheels.

Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Beth Ann Winebrenner of West Lafayette and Barbara Raymond of Tampa, Fla.; one son, John Winebrenner of Butlerville; one brother, Howard G. Winebrenner of Western Springs, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. John C. Rockstroh of South Bend.
