According to Isaac's granddaughter Nellie Morgan Von Der Heiden, Isaac died of Cholera along with his entire party, while carrying supplies back to Pawnee (which was to be the Territorial Capital of Kansas). They are buried on the McGee Ranch, probably in a group grave because of the epidemic.
