page 17 of the book: The first date we have suggesint Michael was in Georgia is in his family Bible, indicating that he married Milley Bond on August 24, 1807. [We] do know by family tradition that her maiden name was Bond, and that hse was born in South Carolina, where the 1790 census lists a number of possibilities. Michael sold land to George T. Bond, and bought from Charless W. Bond. He lived in the militia district of Gumlog through the 1840 census, then in 1850 census was in Nail's Creek community. Len, in letter to Jennie, spoke of
"Grandmohter's brothers, George, Lenoard and Micajah."

After a year of marriage, probably scrounging in with some of the Milley's relatives, Michael found a farm that he could purchase in the northeast corner of Franklin. It consisted of 100 acres on both sides of a ridge between Eastanollee and Gumlog Creeks, near the Tugalo River. He bought this from Alexander Saxon on Sept. 19, 1808 for $125.00 "in hand paid."

page 20 On Dec. 5, 1823 Michael purchased from his neighbor Benjamin Caudell a 400 acre tract downsream bounded by the lands of Seth Strange and Simon Terrell. This gave him 890 contiguous acres...
On July 17, 1827 he became Commisioner of Roads in and for Capt Caudell's District.
Page 21: Michael was trustee of land for a spring for his church. Mt. Pleasant Methodist with Lowrie Gillespie, Banabuas Meaders, Levi B. Garrison and Jedediah Meaders.

He and Milley are buried in a field near the Ragsdale Mille at the intersection of 198 and Damascus Road in Banks County, Georgia. Thanks to Theron Ragsdale and Frances Hemphill.
