Explanation as to why Susan Virginia Berry's daughter, Colen's birth record and death record indicates the mother's name as Sue McKaskell.

1860 Census - Susan's mother, Elizabeth Boggan McCaskill Berry was no longer living with German Berry, but, instead with Elizabeth's parents, Joseph and Sally Boggan.

All of Elizabeth Boggan McCaskill Berry's "McCaskill" children were living in the household. Susan Virginia Berry Shivers was the ONLY Berry child, and the youngest child. In the 1860 Census Elizabeth changed Susan's name to McKaskell (McCaskill.

Whether it was done legally on record has not been discovered at this time.
