Mary "MAMIE" Johnson Finley, was given the same name as her mother MARY, but was called Mamie from the time she was born in 1867 to her parents Mary Lindsey and Achilles Johnson in Spring Valley, McDonald, Mo. Her siblings were Rueben,two sisters ( twins) Ollie and Mollie Johnson; half-brother Moss Johnson, the son of her deceased older sister, Amanda. Their birtplace, Bunceton, MO.

On July 24, 1889, Mamie Johnson met and married William George Finley who was born in Otterville, Mo. where four of their nine children were born; Ethel, Sadie, Edna, Orva Lucinda Finley. The family moved from Otterville to Sedalia,Mo. where their two sons were born. Floyd Charles Finley,Sr. (CPO Floyd Charles Finley), and Leland Finley. The family moved to Boonville, MO. where the last of their nine children was born, Marie, Majorie Delores, and mother Bernice Vaughnciel Finley was born. Mamie's family joined St. Matthews AME church. Their children was educated at the Elias Buckner Colored School,( Sumner Colored School). Twenty-six years of forty-years of marriage the family lived in Boonville. Mamie became a widow July 1927, when her husband died a tragic death falling off his wagon enroute from Boonville to Otterville, Mo.

Mamie grew up surrounded by family. Her mother's family the Lindseys; her father's family, the Johnsons. Also, many of her husband's family, the Finley/Hogan/Williams family members.
