Harriet Zimmerman Abbott

SALISBURY - Harriet Zimmerman Abbott, 81, of Salisbury, passed away at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.

Born in Lewisburg, Pa., on May 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Elias Zimmerman and Mae Folk Troxell Zimmerman. She was a graduate of Havre De Grace High School in Maryland.

Mrs. Abbott was a member of First Baptist Church in Salisbury and was a wife and homemaker.

Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Abbott, Jan. 3, 1991.

She is survived by three sons, John A. Abbott, wife Barbara, of Martin, Ga., David C. Abbott, wife Janell, of Wilmer, Ala., and Mark B. Abbott of Salisbury; two daughters, Susan A. Brincefield, husband Mark, and Janet L. File, husband Greg, both of Salisbury; a brother Dale Reuben Zimmerman, wife Dorothy, of Havelock; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Service and Visitation: The family will have a graveside service Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at Rowan Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Kenneth Lance, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will see friends following services.

Memorials: May be made to First Baptist Church, 223 N. Fulton St., Salisbury, NC 28144; or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
