She was born in Whitfield, Ala., and moved to Elyria in the late 1950s. After moving between Elyria and Lorain, she settled in Lorain where she had lived with her oldest sister, Bertha, for more than 20 years.

She was a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Lorain, and attended Sunday school; and was a former member of Call Out Church of the Almighty God in Elyria, where she had been a member of the choir and ushers board. In Alabama, she was a member of Mount Valley African Methodist Episcopal Church. She enjoyed her family and watching westerns.

Survivors include her sisters Bertha Lee Noble, Lois Louise Folmar and Shirley Ann Allen, all of Lorain, and Gertrude Ruth Cooper, Wanda Jarene Capers, Annie Pearl Jones and Rosemary Capers, all of Elyria; brothers Willie Hollis and Ellis Ed Capers, both of Elyria, and Jeffery Lynn Capers of Lorain; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Brunette Bernice (nee Mann) Capers; her stepmother, Rosie Capers (nee Taylor); brother, Joe Wallace Capers; and her grandparents.

Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 859 Reid Ave. The Rev. Tyrone Holley, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
