William was the son of Louis Turkish and Fannie Berger.
He married in 1944 to Annabelle Weburg (1925-1995).
He obtained the rank of Captain during the Korean War, and then decommissioned to the rank of Sergeant.
In the late 1950's he was an ROTC instructor at Hoover High School in Glendale, California.
He retired from the army right after leaving Hoover High. He then went to work for the State of California Unemployment Office, went back to college at night, received his Masters Degree in Psychology, then went to law school on the G.I. Bill. Later, he became an Administrative Law Judge on the PUC while at the State. He retired at 67, but still worked for the State part-time hearing cases on the same matter. He also sat on Small Claims cases in L.A. County "just for fun".
He passed away from leukemia. He died a happy satisfied man. He always had fun in life, enjoyed each minute while never wasting a minute of it. He was a great role model. He never lost his charm with people nor his humor. In the family, he was known as "Sargent Bilko", although he retired out as a Captain after serving as an officer for many years during and after WWII and the Korean War as a stage manager.
