Alvah Judson Williams, 94, Altoona, died Tues., Jan. 11, 2011 at Homewood at Martinsburg. He was born in Tyrone to Alvah Jerol & Helen Marjorie (Plotner) Williams. He married Margaret Rebecca Shank on Sept. 23, 1940, in Cumberland, MD and she died Feb. 3, 2007. Survived by son, Jesse Clair Williams & wife, Linda, of Altoona; 6 grandchildren: Laura Jean Walters, Jessica Lynn Brua, Claire Ann Imler, Rebecca Jane Mulligan, Robert William Beck and Heather Renee Kriebel; 6 gr. grandchildren; and sister, Lois Plotner Williams of Yuma, AZ. Predeceased by daughters: Helen Marjorie Beck and Linda Jean Imler; brother, Jesse Williams; and sisters: Marjorie Beswick (Williams) Poole; Donna Lorraine (Williams) Henderson and Lillian Lenore (Williams) Gray. Alvah was a 1934 graduate of Beccaria Twp. High School. He was a passenger and freight conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired in 1976. Member, Simpson-Temple United Parish in Altoona. Alvah was past president of Sons of the American Revolution, Blair Co. chaper; Boy Scouts of America; founding member of the Blair County Genealogical Society; Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and a member of Centennial Lodge 544, F&AM, Pittsburgh. He received the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution Liberty Medal in 2000 and the Pennsylvania Society, Sons of the American Revolution Marshall E. Lignian Certificate in 1999, and was inducted into the History Hall of Fame in July 2008. E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Altoona. Interment, Utahville Cemetery.
