Clarence Emir Allen, Sr

U.S. Congressman. He attended Girard Academy, studied law, graduated from Western Reserve College Ohio, in 1877 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in August 1881. There he was an instructor in Salt Lake Academy until 1886 and engaged in mining pursuits. He was a member of the Utah Territorial House of Representatives, (1888, 90, 94) and Clerk of Salt Lake County, (1890-93). He was admitted to the Utah bar in 1893 and practiced law in Salt Lake City. Upon the admission of Utah as a State into the Union, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress, serving (1896-97). Declining to be a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his mining interests until he retired in 1922.
