Born in Alsace as only son of first marriage of John Finkbohner. Mother's name reported to be Marie Ann Kimmel, but not confirmed by documents. He and mother immigrated to New York City on 9 Sept 1900. He resided with his father and stepmother's family for some period of time, and was living independently after 1910 in NYC. He worked as a dishwasher and driver. He passed at age of 33 at Bellevue Hospital from illness described as "cardio-nephritis" and based on a lack of family informants on his death certificate, was separated from their contact.
