Jones was a retired Chief in the U.S. Navy. He ws born Feb. 4, 1928 in Enterprise, KS, the son of Boyd E. and Blanche Barnett Jones. He married Doris (nee Baughman) Sacks in Nov., 1982 at Okmulgee. He was a member of the Tom L. Schwinn American Legion Post No. 90 and the Dan C. Matson VFW Post No. 881.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; four sons, Dale (Kansas City, MO), Gary (Kayce, WY), Norman (Seattle, WA) and David (Seattle, WA); two daughters, Cathy Fox (Seattle, WA) and Sue Ellen Cubing (Auburn, WA); three brothers, Ray, Bob and Boyd (all of Wellington, KS); one sister, Mrs. Norma Watters (Belle Plaine, KS): and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Charles Conrow.
Funeral services were held at the Davis-Cantrell Funeral Home the following Tuesday. Graveside military services were conducted by a group from Ft. Sill, OK.
