He was born July 30, 1946, in Louisville, Ky., and moved to the Lorain area in 1967.

He was a crossing guard for Lorain City Schools. He was also retired from ABC Management.

He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lorain. He enjoyed working on cars, music and travel.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa (nee Tucker); sons Jyrone Tucker and Chalmas Barnett Jr., both of Lorain; daughters Christina Jones, Jenny Maxwell and Brandy Armstrong, all of Lorain; brother, Nathaniel Barnett of Lorain; and 12 grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd ''Dink'' and Dorothy (nee Moore) Barnett; and one grandchild.

Friends may call Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m., at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway, Lorain. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Shiloh Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Ave. The Rev. Peter Towers, pastor, and Bishop Samuel Cash of Full Gospel Tabernacle, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
