Mrs. Anna G. Brown, wife of Mr. S.B. Brown, and mother of A.L. Brown, Esq., of Brownton, died on Friday, May 9, at the residence of her son, A.J.C. Brown. The deceased was born in Falmouth, Maine May 1, 1812, and was 78 years old at the time of her death. The family came to Minnesota in October 1857 and settled in the town of Penn in the spring of 1858 where they have resided until within a few years. The family were among the early pioneers, and suffered the privations in common with their few neighbors incident to Minnesota life, previous to and during the civil war. She sent two sons, C.H. and A.L.,to the war and is said to have expressed regret that she could not go herself. A husband and four children survive her. One who had known her well while living, says of her: She was a noble woman, kind to everybody, liberal, and generous, a true friend and one of the best mothers. The remains were buried in Brownton Cemetery on Monday, May 11. Rev. Mr. Graves of Glenco officiating.
