Gueydan: It's with great sadness that the family of Dwight Vincent, age 76 of Gueydan, announces his passing on Tuesday afternoon from his home while surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gueydan on Friday, January 14, 2011 @ 2:00 PM with Father Jason Vidrine officiating. The Vincent family requests visitation be observed beginning on Thursday at Matthews & Son Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of his services on Friday. A rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. Dwight will be laid to rest in the Gueydan Cemetery where he will be honored with full military rites.

Dwight was born in Gueydan to the late Clobule & Olite Monceaux Vincent in March of 1934. He served his country honorable in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He was retired from Bio-Com. Dwight had a wonderful personality and never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and being outdoors. He was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Jeanette Chiasson Vincent of Gueydan; 3 daughters, Karen Stelly of Gueydan, Denise Greene and husband David of Kaplan, and Adrienne Vincent of Gueydan; 1 brother, Raymond Vincent and wife Cogie of Lake Charles; 2 sisters, Grace Touchet of Gueydan and Earline Guidry and husband Lee of Prairieville; 4 grandchildren, Cole Stelly, Daniel Greene, Kate Stelly, and Dylan Greene; 1 great grandson, Joshua Fontenot and one sister-in-law, Mary Duhon.

Dwight now rests in Heaven with his parents, Clobule and Olite; grandson, Shaun Fontenot; brothers, Rudy and Vinton Vincent; sister, Mary Vincent; father & mother in law, Wilfred and Velma Chiasson and brother-in-law Daryl Duhon.

Carrying Dwight to his eternal resting place will be David Greene, Cole Stelly, Daniel Greene, Dylan Greene, Erik Duhon, and Gabe Duhon. Honorary pallbearers will include Raymond Vincent, John Ryan Laseter, Brad Vincent, Leroy Broussard, Chad Broussard, and Grayson Benoit.
