U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Boones University School, in 1910, from the law department of the University of Southern California, in 1914, was admitted to the and commenced to practice law in Fresno, California. During World War I, he served in France, as a Second Lieutenant in the 690th Aero Squadron, U.S. Army Air Corps, (1917-19). After the war, he was district attorney of Fresno County, (1917-23) and served as a member of the board of directors of the California Veterans’ Home, in 1932. In 1935, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-fourth Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1949. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 65.
