A brief sketch of Olive's life is found in "Pioneer Women of The Western Reserve; Hartland Twp., Huron Co. History" pp. 645-646

"Two families, Benajah Odell and Wife (Sarah Wells) and Jebez Dolbee and wife (Olive Odell) and seven children came from Wayne Co. N.Y. via Erie canal and lake. They reached Huron the last day of August, 1833, where they found The Cholera Raging. Two men dying near their landing place, they hurriedly sought a way to escape. A man about to return to Bronson was found, and a part of the company went with him, the remainder walking. After spending the night in Bronson, they went to Mr. Samuel Odell's in Hartland. Mrs. Samuel Odell is Margaret Wickhim.

Having no meat for breakfast, the next morning Mr. Odell went out and in about half an hour returned with a fine deer; thus was the large family supplied. Mrs. Odell commenced pioneer life on a farm one mile east of Olena on one of the prettiest sites in the township. Here she lived until her death. She was a skillful worker in both wool and flax until she became blind, when she used to sit and knit all day long.

Mrs. Dolbee lived in New London for two years, when she returned and her husband bought a farm some distance in the forest northeast from Olena, on which a rude cabin had been erected; but it was without doors or windows. Two of her sons remained there for some time, keeping wolves from entering by the light of their fire. They also carried all the lumber, for finishing the building, on their backs for over a mile, as there was no road through the forest. Mrs. Dolbee was the mother of eleven children and furnished clothing for them all, the spinning, weaving, etc all the work of her own hands."
