Idanelle Brewer-Perkins Hayes, 86, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at the Hospice Family Care and Inpatient Unit in Gilbert. Idanelle was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Clay Springs to Jacob Edward Brewer and Amanda Rogers.
She was sealed to Andrew Myron "Perk" Perkins from Taylor in the Mesa Arizona Temple Oct. 20, 1938. They were married for 42 years before his death while driving a truck Dec. 24, 1980.
She was preceded in passing by seven siblings listed from oldest to youngest: Besty Beatrice, Amanda Hortence, Eliza Gladys, Wallace Rex, Smith Fenton, Edward "Ted" Rogers and James Kimball. Idanelle was the youngest.
Idanelle and Perk had six children, Myron Ray (Tammie) of Taylor; Olive Diane Brewer of Phoenix; Kim Brewer Perkins who became ill and died Feb. 20, 1981; Jeanne Sharon Nix; Stephen (Clare) Edward, both of Mesa; and Michael (Barbara) Kent of Peoria.
Idanelle had 48 grandchildren (one elder, Myron Jospeh Perkins, serving a mission in Johannesburg, Africa), 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Idanelle married and is survived by Manual Leo Hayes Aug. 31, 1991. He gave her three stepchildren, Manny's two sons and daughter: Ken (Karyn) Hayes of Albuquerque, N.M.; Dave (Billie) Hayes of Buckeye and Martha (Don) Foster of Paulsbo, Wash.
Idanelle and Manny were married for 18 years. Idanelle will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, at the Silver Creek Mortuary, 745 Papermill Road, in Taylor and a one-hour viewing beginning at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, at the LDS Lovelake Chapel, Lovelake Road, in Taylor.
Funeral services will follow. Burial will immediately take place after at the Clay Springs Cemetery.
