Marjorie E. Schaal Weibler Nemenz

Marjorie E. Schaal Weibler Nemenz, age 98, formerly of 705 Mohawk Drive, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was born in Erie on October 2, 1912, a daughter of the late Clarence W. and Mayme V. Schaal.

She was in the first graduating class from Strong Vincent High School. Marjorie was a very active member of Luther Memorial Church and a longtime supporter and volunteer at the Barber National Institute. She was also a member of the women's auxiliary at the Erie Maennerchor Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Erie Home for Children and Adults.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman A. Weibler; her second husband, William H. Nemenz; two brothers, Wallace F. Schaal and Clarence R. Schaal; a sister, Doris Schaal-Grassi; and a nephew whom she raised, Richard F. Grassi.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Gary C. and his wife, Mary Burghart-Weibler; two granddaughters, Vanessa Paris and her husband, Michael, and Alissa Hodas and her husband, Brian; three great-grandchildren, Eliza Paris, Oliver Paris, and Samuel Hodas; three cousins, Alan and Patricia Schaal, Craig and Loretta Schaal, and Suzanne Franks, all of Erie; and her sister-in-law, Helen Schaal, of Erie.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Ave., on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a service at the Luther Memorial Church, 225 West 10th Street, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend William E. Coleman, Pastor of Luther Memorial Church and Reverend J. David Mumford, II Emeritus co-officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
