He was born Jan. 19, 1979, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and moved to Lorain six years ago.

Acevedo enjoyed art, playing basketball and music.

Survivors include his mother, Marta Iris De Jesus of Lorain; father, Jose Angel Acevedo of Puerto Rico; brother, Jose Angel Acevedo of Lorain; sisters Elizabeth Rodriguez and Francis Merced, both of Lorain, Edna Rodriguez of Tucson, Ariz., Sulaika Cotto of Philadelphia, Pa., and Reina Acevedo and Zullymar Rodriguez, both of Lorain; maternal grandfather, Nicolas De Jesus of Jayuya, Puerto Rico; maternal grandmother, Francisca Osorio of Lorain; paternal grandmother, Catalina Malave of Rio Piedras; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Iris Esther Guzman, in 1997; and paternal grandfather, Justo Acevedo, in 1999.

Friends may call Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m., at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be Friday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Miguel Serrano, pastor of Iglesia De Cristo Misionera, will officiate.
