Reed Blaine Butterfield , age 63, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2001 after a long illness surrounded by his family.
Reed was born July 27, 1937 in Murray, Utah to Russell and Lucille Burton Butterfield . He served in the U.S. Navy for four years,
and retired from Kennecott after 26 years of dedicated service. Reed married RaNae Lloyd Palmer on June 26, 1959 and later divorced. He married Dawna Johnson Pollock on April 3, 1986. The highlight of his life was his family, which brought him great joy. Other things that he loved were, family reunions, camping, snowmobiling and family vacations. He spent time collecting coins, doing yard work and supporting the Jazz.
Reed is survived by his wife, Dawna Butterfield ; his seven children, LaNae (Chad) Browning, Becky (Lance) Christensen, Craig (Melanie) Butterfield , Cheryl (Russell) Crook, Lisa (Dave) Madsen, Tammy Norman and Jeff (Shaunna) Pollock; four brothers, Leon, Larry, Ray and Don Butterfield ; 22 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; stepsons, Morry Pollock and Tony Norman and grandson, Benjamin Browning.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Willow Canyon 4th Ward Chapel, 1600 East Buttercup Dr. (10102 So.) The family will receive friends at a viewing Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the services at the Ward Chapel.
