John Bethel Lasater married Myrtle McDonald on 25 September 1910 in the Lake Creek Community of Archer County, Texas. Shortly after their marriage, the moved to Thurber where he went into partnership with A.V. Sechrist to purchase a photography studio.

Services for J.B. Lasater, 84, were held at First United Methodist Church in Olney.

Mr. Lasater was one of the first professional photographers in North Central Texas and operated a studio in Olney for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Olney Masonic Lodge, Woodmen of the World, Lions Club, Olney Fire Department, Rodeo Association and Olney Chamber of Commerce.

Survived by his wife; one son - Ben Lasater; two daughters - Amy Lasater and Mrs. Jo Anne Green; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

John Bethel Lasater, Sr established the Lasater Photography Studio in Olney in 1915. It is one of only two businesses remaining in Olney founded in the early 1900s owned and operated by the families which began them. After Mr. Lasater's retirement, his son bought the company and continued to operate the business until his retirement when Lasater Studio was sold to a man in Wichita Falls, Texas.
