US Congressman, Olympic Athlete. Fondly and honorably remembered, along with his fellow countryman, Jesse Owens, for championship performances at the Berlin Olympic Games of 1936. Mr. Metcalfe and Mr. Owens stood proud together- two great Americans - as they accepted their Gold (Owens) and Silver (Metcalfe) medals, much to the racist chagrin of the infamous Adolph Hitler. Mr. Metcalfe also earned a Bronze medal in the 1932 Games, and a Gold in the 1936 Games for the 4x100 relay.
