Mexico, Mo. — Brad Robert Allison, age 36 of Wellsville, formerly of Mexico, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. near Kingdom City.
Funeral services for Brad will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico with Rev. Everett Bradshaw and Rev. Randy Jones officiating. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park at Mexico.
Brad was born on June 18, 1974 in Mexico, the son of Robert Earl and Sharon Kay (Wright) Allison spending most of his childhood in Mexico.
As a child Brad was baptized accepting Jesus Christ into his heart at the First Christian Church in Mexico. He rededicated his life to his Lord and Savior at First Assembly of God in Mexico in 2008 as he went forward saying the "Sinner's Prayer." Brad attended First Assembly of God in Mexico and more recently started attending REACH Church in Montgomery City.
Brad attended grade school and middle school in Mexico, graduating from Mexico High School in 1993.
Brad was employed at First Assembly of God in Mexico as their lawn care specialist in addition to working in other capacities at the church. Brad was taught the garage door installation business by Rev. Everett Bradshaw of First Assembly of God. (Brad came to greatly love, and to highly respect Pastor Bradshaw as a pastor and great friend).
Brad later ventured out on his own (under direction from Pastor Bradshaw) and became a proud owner of his own business, namely "Brad's Garage Doors, LLC, and General Home Repair."
Brad was a "hands on" type of person. As a child, if something didn't need fixing he would repair it anyway, first with his bike, and then his cars, becoming an excellent mechanic. Once while working on his car, he dropped a bolt down into the engine motor, in an area which forced him to completely remove the entire motor to get the bolt, and then to put everything back in the proper place, all by himself. He drove the car for several years after this.
Besides being a car enthusiast Brad loved to read The Mexico Ledger and the Ad Finder. He loved his family pictures, and putting them in albums. Brad was also an exceptionally good money manager and enjoyed going to flea markets and finding "bargains" at a good price. In addition Brad liked to go fishing with his brother Brian, and to shoot pool with him.
Brad had a "heart of gold" and a very forgiving nature. To all who knew him, they became his friends forever. He saw the good in each person, not their faults and he was always doing good things for various people because of his giving nature. He always said that he got more pleasure in giving than receiving. He was always there to help his friends, day or night, or even a complete stranger. Because of these traits, as his Mother I am very proud to call him my son.
Survivors include his mother, Sharon Kay Allison Harrison, and stepfather Glenn Harrison Jr. of Mexico; one brother Brian Matthew Wright of Fulton; and one half-brother Robert Allison and one half-sister Amiee Allison, both of Eldon.
Surviving aunts and uncles of Brad include Rita Powers and husband Gary of Mexico; Connie Brown of Mexico; David Wright of West Virginia; Donna White and husband Jack of Moberly; Glenn Allison and Barbara of Madison; Jack Allison and wife Debbie of Mexico; Sherry Allison of Mexico; Joe and wife Anna Allison of Mexico; and numerous cousins, all of whom Brad loved dearly.
