He died of tetanus on July 15 at the 3rd Division, I Corps hospital, and was initially buried in the Associate Reformed Graveyard in Gettysburg.
He was later reinterred in the Pennsylvania Plot in the Gettysburg National Cemetery in Section G, Site #10.
