Merritt Ingalls was the son of Almond Ingalls and Betsey Sargent Ingalls of Alburg, VT. He is buried in the Alburg Center Cemetery .
Merritt enlisted as a Private in July 23, 1862 in the 11th Regiment, Company K, 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment , on September 1, 1862 was Promoted to Full Corporal on December 28, 1863 and was a prisoner on July 23 1864. He was paroled on November 20, 1864 and died on December 9, 1864.
Location of Capture was Weldon Railroad, VA.
