D.D. Waldrop of Marietta, SC was notified. All records where destroyed in a fire in Columbia, SC. Alfred is supposed to be buried in an unmarked grave there.

Appears on a Roll Of Volunteers raised in the 1st Regiment South Carolina Militia, on the 31st day of December, 1861, under the late "Military Act." Roll dated Greenville District, SC Jan. 1, 1862. Capt. Jefferson Barton's Company. This company subsequently became Company H, 22d Regiment South Carolina Infantry.Roll indorsed: "Rec'd & accepted Jan. 2, 1862.
