Yard Superintendent At Ingalls Found Dead Near Barge

An apparent accident Sunday afternoon took the life of James E. Skipworth, 43, 1816 Enolam Blvd., who had been yard superintendent at Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp. for at least 15 years.

Funeral services are to be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Grant St. Church of Christ with Jimmy Faulkner and Lindsey Allen, Florence, officiating and burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Izora Page Skipworth; one son, Jimmy Skipworth, Decatur; one sister, Mrs. Early Williams, Florence; four brothers, Ollie and Paulie Skipworth, Killen, Ala.; Hubert Skipworth, U. S. Army, Spokane, Wash.; W. H. Skipworth, Decatur; mother, Mrs. J. T. Skipworth, Killen.

Active pallbearers will be Zola Clark, Floyd Williams, Grant Lee Terry, Wilburn Hopkins, Nathan Horton and Lee Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Reid Byars, John short, H. B. Norwood, Willard Brown, Herman Evans, Nick McGee, Guy Walker, Charles Neeley, Richard Tolbert, Floyd Lawson, Raymond Thornhill, and associates at Ingalls.

The body is to remain at Brown Funeral Home until time for services.
