United States Army Air Corps Lieutenant Colonel. Killed when his plane was accidentally shot down by British guns and crashed into the River Stour at Harwich on March 4, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Silver Star Medal, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross. His remains were recovered in 2000. He was re-interred at Arlington National Cemetery on March 22, 2002.
