Mr. Greer was born January 18, 1956, in Nacogdoches and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a 1974 graduate of Nacogdoches High School where he enjoyed playing football. In his youth, he enjoyed being a Boy Scout. Mark was a member of Stallings Drive Church of Christ and had owned and operated Greer Lumber Company for 26 years.
Survivors: his wife, Mary Greer; mother, Pattye Greer of Nacogdoches; sons, Mark S. Greer II and girlfriend Heather Merchant of Nacogdoches and Matthew Greer and wife Heather of Ft. Worth; step-sons, David Crisp and wife Brandy and Doug Crisp and wife Dawn, all of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Jake Crisp, Ivy Crisp, and Brandon Crisp, all of Nacogdoches; sister, Deborah Greer of Houston; and brother, Perry Greer of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hoover Greer.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, with Jay Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
