Billy passed away in Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, the youngest of 4 children. In the early 1970's he was in a severe auto accident. The Doctors at Chelsea Naval Hospital in Mass., told him he would never walk or bear children. After 9 grueling months, and as the last patient there before they tore the whole bldg. down, he WALKED out. Billy was a Medical Miracle! He convalesced at home in Portsmouth, NH. He met the love of his life and married Debra L Rutherford of York, Maine. They had 2 children! Another miracle...The love for his family never waivered. Even with his medical issues, he worked hard all his life. He was at Seabrook Nuclear Plant, did Waste to Energy on heavy equipment and spent most of his working life at Buzzy's Rte 1 Truck Stop, Portsmouth, NH. Billy [Will] was well known and very well liked. The cold weather was hard on him, but he endured through it all. He also apprenticed in woodworking at THE SIGN SHOP and it became his avocation. You can see his signs on homes and businesses throughout the eastern seacoast. Billy became well known for his custom canes. He was proud of his work and how he could 'see' the life of the wood.
Billy lived to enjoy his 3 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, his dau Amy June Babkirk and a son William Taylor Jr. He has 2 sisters, Donna Kinard and Paulette Sampson & a brother James all of Florida. He is preceded by his parents Harry F & June [Taylor] Sampson also of Florida.
