Alyce Thomas Weds James N. Hughes in Deland
Mrs. Hughes is the daughter of J. S. Thomas, of McIntosh. She is a graduate of the Palatka High School and the Flagler hospital training school for nurses.
Mr. Hughes is originally from Lilly, Ga. but has made his home in Florida for a number of years. He came to Deland from Orlando about three years ago and has been connected in business since that time with the Deland Hardware company.

Accidental Shot Kills J. N. Hughes
St. Augustine -- James N. Hughes, well known former Deland resident, died yesterday here in a hospital as a result of an accidental gun shot wound. He was 55.
He was demonstrating a supposedly unloaded gun last Saturday at the hardware store which he owned here.
Hughes was owner of a sporting goods store in Deland from 1929 to 1943 when he moved to St. Augustine and started the Cordova Hardware store.

Survives his wife, Tommy (Alice Thomas), son Henry Hughes, daughter Sally Hughes; brothers Charles Hughes, Jacksonville, and Fred Hughes, Washington, D.C. and sisters Mrs. Wilber Seago, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Floy Johnson, Deland.

Mrs. Frances Yelverton is in St. Augustine today attending funeral services for her brother-in-law, James Norman Hughes (1905-1960).

She was joined by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Yelverton and children, of Sarasota.
