Mary Carnochan Wyllie Burton, 80, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, in The Summit Health and Rehab. She was the wife of the late Courtney Barnes Burton.
Born May 3, 1930, in New Rochelle, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Helen Carnochan Wyllie and was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wyllie.
She was retired from Kraft General Foods after 20 years of service and a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Alison (Everett) Chadbourne, of Lynchburg, June (Glenn) Wilson, of Tacoma, Wash.; two step-daughters, Carol Burton, of Eastham, Mass., Linda (Martin) Kochanov, of Danbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, Heather (Paul) Lozito, Eric Chadbourne, Brad Wilson, Kyle Wilson; two step-grandchildren, Lauren and Janice and a sister-in-law, Margaret Wyllie of Tryon, N.C.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Timberlake United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Rob Colwell and the Rev. Dr. Tom Bryant with inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church and other times at her daughter's residence.
