US Congressman. He was born near St. Louis, Missouri and served in the United States House of Representatives from March 1863 to March 1865 as a representative from Oregon. McBride was a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1857 and was a member of the Oregon State Senate from 1860 to 1862. He served as a justice of the Idaho Territorial supreme court following appointment by President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and as a member of the Republican National Committee from 1880 to 1892. Prior to his death, he was active in several legal endeavors, operating private law practices in Boise, Idaho, Salt Lake City, Utah and Spokane, Washington.
