Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Colbert was the son of Martin and Sarah [Allen] Colbert. He migrated to Panola county, Indian Territory in 1846, locating on land south of the present day Colbert, Oklahoma, where he built his home and operated the Colbert Ferry across the Red River. Historians differ on the number of wives he had. Some say five. Here is a list of their names. Martha A. McKinney, Malinda Factor, Georgia Ann McCarthy and Anna Louise Goldsby.
Both his parents were Chickasaw.

His first wife was Martha McKinney, a Cherokee, by whom he had two children. Their daughter, Mary, married Thornton Downing.

His second wife was Malinda Factor, a Chickasaw.

His third wife was Georgia Ann McCarthy, a white woman, by whom he had three children:

1...Holmes, a Chickasaw Commission member, involved with the Atoka Agreement.

2...Texana, who married Winter Bradley, a railroad agent at Colbert, for whom the town of Bradley, Oklahoma was named.

3...Eugenia, a graduate of Miss Mary Baldwin's Seminary, Straunton, Virginia, married Lucien Perry.

His fourth wife was Anna Louise Goldsby, a Cherokee woman, by whom he had nine children, only five reached maturity.
