James Edward Fay, of the 2200 block of Parkside Court, an optician with Gilbert Optical, died May 30, 1990, in a hospital.

Mr. Ray, a native of Lynn, Mass., was a member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel, Tidwater Opticians Association and Fleet Reserve Association. He had retired from the Navy as a chief hospital corpsman after 20 years and had also retired from the Oceana Naval Optical Shop. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen L. Fay; two daughters, Eileen M. Horan of Suffolk and Joanne F. Eudy of Alexandria; a sister, Dorothy Brienza of Swampscott, Mass.; two brothers, Thomas Fay and Henry Fay, both of Lynn; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Arlington National Cemetery . A Fleet Reserve service will be held at 7 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Road Chapel, and friends may join the family there until 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Oceana Rescue Squad.
