US Senator. The son of Colorado Governor Alva Adams, he served during World War I in the United States Army as a Major in the Judge Advocate General's Department. He was elected as a Senator from Colorado to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Samuel D. Nicholson, serving as a Democrat from 1923 to 1924. In 1933 he was re-elected to the US Senate, and served from 1933 to his death in office in 1941.
