U.S. Congressman. Moving to Alabama, he served as a Corporal in squadron of U.S. Cavalry, during the War of 1812. After the war, he studied law, was a member of the Alabama State House of Representatives, (1820-22) and was a Captain in the Alabama Militia, (1824-25). He served in the Alabama State Senate, (1825-33, 47-50), plus again in the Alabama State House of Representatives, (1838-39). In 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second and Thirty-third Congresses, serving until 1855. After his term moving to Florida, in 1856, he engaged as a brick contractor for the government until his death at age 69.
