Mr.Walter F. Blalock
Mr. Walter F. Blalock, 80, of Oostanaula Community, Calhoun, died Saturday (April 19, 1980) at 11:30 a.m. in the Cherokee Nursing Home, following a several months of illness. He was born in Gordon County, April 12, 1900, a son of the late Cicero B. and Arva Jarrett Blalock. He was a retired farmer, had spent his lifetime in Gordon County, and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church near Ranger.
Mr. Blalock is survived by his widow, the former Alma Long, to who he was married for 50 years;
four daughters, Dimple Kirby, Calhoun, Myrtle Wood, Homer, Elouise Caylor, Buford, Louise Chitwood, Homer and Kay Brown of Fayette; 10 sons, Ed of Dalton, and C. J., Jimmy, Boyd, Harold, Richard, Tommy Max, Glenn and Donald Blalock, all of Calhoun, and James Blalock; a sister, Stella Padgett of Alpharetta; 22 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday (April 21,1980) at 2 p.m. from the Liberty Baptist Church near Ranger with Revs. Graden Strickland and Charles Cornwell officiating. Pallbearers included grandson and grandsons-in-law, Ray Kirby, Mitchell Blalock, Terry Blalock, Allen Blalock, Roger Tinch and Randy Tate. Music was arranged by Rev. and Mrs. Clay Stephens and burial was in the family lot of Liberty Cemetery.
