Myrtle Jean Deline
Hospital switchboard operator
Myrtle DeLine, 82, Sherman Street, died Saturday evening at her home, where she had been under the care of her son, Michael, and Hospital of Jefferson County.
Mrs. Deline was a switchboard operator at Mercy Hospital for several years.
Born July 13, 1923 in Glen Park, daughter of James and Julia Boiler Hayes, she graduated in 1939 from Brownville-Glen Park Central School and in later years attended classes at Jefferson Community College.
She served in the Army during World War II from March 25, 1944 until April 20, 1946.
She married Nelson Y. DeLine on April 24, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville. The marriage ended in divorce. Mr. DeLine died July 8, 1972.
Surviving besides her son, of Watertown, are a brother and his wife, James and Virginia Hayes, Brownville, a sister and her husband, Madeline and James Judkins, Oklahoma City, Okla., and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Two sisters, Dorothy E. M. Hayes and Margurite H. Dasno, died before her.
There will be no funeral. Spring burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
