Edgar J. Hoffmann, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at his home.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.

He was born March 14,1921, Granville, Iowa, to Eugene and Elizabeth (Boever) Hoffmann. When he was two years old, he moved with his family to a farm north of Sleepy Eye. He attended St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye. He farmed in the Sleepy Eye area. He married Donna Deane Berkner on Sept. 4, 1948, at St. Mary's Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed near Sleepy Eye for a few years. He then started Commercial Poultry Farming. He retired in 1983. They later moved into Sleepy Eye. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his children, Gary and wife Marie Hoffmann of Worthington, Joel Hoffmann of New Ulm, Mark Hoffmann of Sleepy Eye and fiancee Sharyl Van-t Hul of Mankato, and Daune and husband Lynn Soukup of Sleepy Eye; daughter-in-law, Germaine Michels of Hanska; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Bertrand of Sleepy Eye, Catherine and husband Jack Terrell of Sun City, Ariz., Elizabeth "Betty" Henricher of Flandreau, S.D., and Hilda Fritz of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law, Velma Hoffmann of Sleepy Eye, Rosemary H. Kral of Sleepy Eye, and Adeline and husband Bill Harpil Of Glencoe; brother-in-law, Paul Branster of Loveland, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Deane in 1992; son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Renee Hoffmann; brothers, Leo, Art, Marcel, and Eugene; sisters, Esther Miller and Leona Branster.
