Charles Raymond Faust was born to Samuel & Annie (Reed) Faust. He was the second of 4 boys: Samuel Faust, Jr., Charles Raymond Faust, Edward H. Faust, and Harry F. Faust.

Charles was born and raised in Frackville, Pennsylvania.

Charles served in World War 1 as a Private First Class. He was honorably discharged. It stated on his Discharge Papers from the Army of the United States that his Character was Excellent. He enlisted in the Army on December 6, 1914 and was discharged on June 29, 1919.

He worked in the mines in Pennsylvania as a young man, husband and father.

As a young man he had dark brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, and was 5' and 4" inches in height. Though he was a small man, he was tough. He loved his country and was proud of the American flag.

Charles died of lung cancer at the young age of 57.

He was known by his family as Pap-Pap.
