Margaret M. "Peggy" Norton, 85, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Margaret Mary Austin was born May 3, 1924, the daughter of Francis and Cora (Enright) Austin in Grand Forks, ND. She was raised in Grand Forks and attended St. Mary's Catholic School.
On November 24, 1947, Margaret was united in marriage to James Norton in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks, MN. Together they farmed near East Grand Forks and raised five children. She had many interests, including: gardening, bird watching and flowers and plants. James preceded her in death on December 2, 1976.
She is survived by, her children, Michael (Beth) Norton, Robert Norton, Shawn (JoAnna) Norton, Peggy Jane Norton and Maryann Olson; grandchildren, Nichole, Caitlin, Devon, Evan, John, Corey, Brent and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Declan, Reganne, Anthony and James; a sister, Loretta (David) Norton; brothers, John "Jack" Austin and Keith (Ann) Austin. She is also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, James; a sister, Adorine Scheving; brothers, Edward Austin, and Robert Austin.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service and a 4:30 p.m. rosary service in the Gregory J. Norman – Norman Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
